Snowballing

A puzzle platformer where you play as a snowball collecting snow, gaining mass to jump higher and progress.

Play Snowballing (Beta Version) on itch.io

Gameplay:

You play as a snowball, able to move by rolling around the level. Your goal is to collect all of the piles of snow in the area. As you collect snow, your size increases, which changes your movement speed and jump height. You must strategize as to how much snow you will collect when in order to reach all of the remaining snow.

A screenshot of the 3D game snowvalling showing a round snowball on a flat white surface with green trees and transparent blue rivers. Snow is falling from the sky and small lumps of snow are on the ground. In the top left there is a counter for how much snow has been collected and in the top right there is a button to access the menu.

Development:

The concept for this grew out of an exercise I completed in a game development class where we had to create a ball that rolled around. I ran user testing with my classmates, who gave me feedback on the designs of my levels and assisted in finding bugs- such as the snowball getting stuck in the enviornment around itself when growing.

As this was the first 3D project I created in Unity, there was a bit of a learning curve since all of my previous experince was in creating 2D games, and I was relatively new to the engine. However this was a great learning experience, especially in designing levels for three dimensions
